Dhaayo, from the Somali word for vision, the act of seeing, is a cultural platform reimagining how Somalia is seen and experienced. Through photography, film, exhibitions and publishing, we tell authentic Somali stories that move beyond stereotypes, bringing artists, technologists and communities together to preserve heritage and imagine new futures.
What We Do
Visual Storytelling
We commission and produce photography, documentary films, multimedia features and original editorial projects that explore Somali life through compelling, human-centred storytelling.
Exhibitions & Cultural Experiences
We curate exhibitions, screenings and immersive experiences that bring together visual arts, film, design and technology; creating new ways for audiences to encounter Somali culture.
Publishing & Archives
We publish long-form features, essays, interviews and visual publications, while building digital archives that preserve and celebrate Somalia's cultural and historical heritage for future generations.
Civic Engagement
We deliver workshops, masterclasses, mentorship programmes and professional training for photographers, filmmakers, journalists, curators and emerging creative practitioners; promoting media literacy, digital citizenship and cultural awareness.
Events & Public Programmes
We convene conversations, festivals, artist talks, panel discussions, community events and cultural exchanges that foster dialogue, collaboration and public engagement.
Innovation Lab
We experiment with AI, VR, AR and other emerging technologies to develop immersive storytelling, interactive exhibitions and new models for preserving and experiencing Somali culture.
